Pre-orders for the Russian version of “Hunger,” a deck-building board game by renowned game designer Richard Garfield (creator of “Magic: The Gathering,” “King of Tokyo,” and “Android: Netrunner”), are now open. In this game, players embody vampires, hunting mortals, clashing with werewolves, and outsmarting rival bloodsuckers.

The base game can be acquired for 2990 rubles, while a bundle including the game and the “Sink Fangs” expansion is available for 4490 rubles. All pre-order participants will receive a unique set of promo cards as a gift.

In “Hunger,” vampires must successfully hunt humans, earn victory points, complete objectives, strive to reach a special rose, and return to their castle before dawn. Players spend speed points to move across the map and hunt, adding new cards to their deck. The more intense the hunt, the slower the vampire becomes, their deck grows, and the path back to safety becomes increasingly complex and perilous. Victory goes to the player who accumulates the most victory points and returns to their sanctuary on time.

The game offers diverse strategies. Some players opt for minimal hunting to reach the rose and gain a powerful permanent ability. Others focus on collecting treasures or utilizing advantageous locations. There are also those who build their strategy around crypts to fulfill objectives, or simply orchestrate a feast near the castle for easy points while others venture deeper into the wilderness.

The “Sink Fangs” expansion introduces new threats: vampire hunters and werewolves. They appear on the hunting grounds, inflict wounds, and create additional risks, but defeating them yields valuable rewards.

To counter these threats and attack opponents, the expansion adds a new “attack” parameter. Found on new starter cards, this allows for more efficient hunting and the ability to assault other vampires, forcing them to discard cards and disrupting their tempo.
The Russian version of “Hunger” is expected to arrive in warehouses in June 2026.
