While its power is undeniable, acquiring this formidable weapon does require a focused approach.
Fortunately, even low-level players can obtain the Soul Spear relatively early in the game by employing a clever strategy, thereby gaining a significant advantage from the outset. Here’s a detailed guide on how to secure it.
Location of the Soul Spear
You will find the Soul Spear within the Antumbra Ritual Grounds, nestled in the Argent Peaks, positioned to the northwest of Hernand city. More specifically, the spear is located inside a cave carved into the cliffside, which can be found near the right tip of the ‘H’ in “Hernand” on your in-game map. Be warned, this area is heavily guarded by enemies. Although this mountainous region is cold, its primary impact is limited to your stamina efficiency, so it shouldn’t be a major hindrance to your mission.
Acquisition Strategy
Upon approaching the Antumbra Ritual Grounds, you’ll encounter a Warpriest guarding the entrance, with numerous archers and mages patrolling inside. However, you don’t need to engage them all in direct combat. Your best strategy is to bypass these foes by running past them and then gliding down to a small room situated on the second lower level. This room is directly opposite your entry point and features a broken bridge. Here, you will clearly see the Soul Spear embedded in the ground.
It’s important to note that you cannot pick up the Soul Spear while you are actively engaged in combat. Therefore, your goal is not necessarily to defeat every enemy. Instead, hide within the room where the weapon is located and wait for the combat engagement to conclude and for the prompt to collect the spear to appear. Be prepared for the possibility of a few flying mages entering the room; if they do, quickly dispatch them by striking or shooting them out of the air until the immediate area is clear and safe to retrieve the weapon.
Why the Soul Spear is Special
Beyond its captivating ethereal appearance, the Soul Spear does not incorporate any unique Abyss Gears. Nevertheless, its true power lies in its unique inherent effect: whenever you perform a finisher on an enemy (those impactful, flashy kill animations), the spear automatically launches several damaging orbs. This provides you with valuable bonus damage. While these orbs unfortunately do not track enemies, they can be incredibly effective and useful, particularly when you find yourself surrounded by multiple adversaries.
