The grand strategy game Hearts of Iron IV is gearing up for significant new content, including both free improvements and fresh expansions. Developers have recently outlined their upcoming plans, coinciding with the game’s approaching 10th anniversary.

Paradox Development Studio highlighted ongoing efforts to refine the game, including continued testing of the fleet update:

“As you likely know, our game designer is currently working on rebalancing the fleet in the ongoing open beta. We acknowledge that submarines are presently quite easy to detect, and some relevant changes will be released alongside ‘Peace for our Time.’”

The “Peace for our Time” focus tree pack is currently under development. Notably, this DLC is being created in collaboration with community modders, promising unique content derived from player creativity.

Beyond the DLCs, a significant free update is also in preparation. This update aims to deliver substantial improvements to the game’s AI, boost overall performance, and fix various bugs. A particularly interesting addition is the implementation of “click reduction technologies”:

“This time, we’ve also added ‘click reduction technologies’ for features that previously demanded an excessive number of clicks.”

The “Thunder at our Gates” DLC is also undergoing final polishing. This expansion will introduce new focus trees for nations such as Australia, Siam, and Indonesia, expanding strategic options in the Pacific and Southeast Asian theaters:

“The features and content are looking very good, and we can’t wait to share more details about what we’ve already announced.”

Players can anticipate these content and update releases in the first half of 2026.

Hearts of Iron IV will celebrate its 10th anniversary on June 6. While the developers confirm plans to commemorate this significant milestone, specific details regarding the anniversary celebrations are yet to be revealed.
