Developers currently have no plans to alter the release schedule for the Gothic remake. Recently, Polish journalists marked April Fool’s Day by spreading a humorous rumor: the release date for Gothic 1 Remake was supposedly postponed due to the anticipation for GTA VI and long-rumored DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Many fans genuinely believed the news of a potential delay, triggering widespread discussion within the gaming community about the “new release date.” The surge of online chatter and numerous fan inquiries prompted the Gothic community manager to issue a public statement.

He emphasized: “Many people messaged throughout the day via DMs, social media comments, and elsewhere, asking ‘Is it true that the game’s release is postponed to August?’ — NO, IT IS NOT TRUE. This was an April Fool’s joke from a Polish news website, which many journalists and gaming portals mistakenly took for truth.”

The release of Gothic 1 Remake remains firmly scheduled for June 5, 2026.
