The King Is Watching Receives Major Free Update and Paid DLC with Three New Rulers
On March 16, developer Hypnohead and publisher tinyBuild are set to release a significant update titled "Edge of Madness" alongside a new paid expansion, "Crowns of Yore," for their game, The King Is Watching.
The free "Edge of Madness" update introduces a wealth of new content, including additional events, powerful artifacts, and helpful advisors. Among the new artifacts, players can discover items like the Summoning Sphere, Butcher's Axe, and Self-Flagellation Nail, each offering unique tactical advantages. New advisors such as the Village Elder, Merchant, Banker, and Caretaker will also join your court, providing crucial support.
With the "Crowns of Yore" paid DLC, players will gain the opportunity to command three legendary new rulers: Cleopatra, Taizong, and Xerxes, each boasting distinct playstyles and powerful abilities.
- Cleopatra wields power over life and death, commanding armies through unit summoning and strategic sacrifices. She collects canopic jars to raise new Egyptian troops and utilizes abilities like "Ancient Call," "Posthumous Harvest," and "Pharaoh's Blessing."
- Taizong specializes in bolstering offensive structures and unleashing divine lightning upon his foes. His abilities, "More Fire," "Emperor's Wrath," and "Heavenly Retribution," can dramatically turn the tide of battle.
- Xerxes leads a formidable yet fragile army, relying on precise management of his forces. His unique skills, "Ephemeral Existence," "Immortal Summons," and "Sands of Time," allow him to devastatingly impact the battlefield.
Beyond new content, the developers have implemented various quality-of-life improvements, focusing on game balance, build optimization, and the addition of new maps featuring unique bosses and gameplay mechanics. Future plans also include a complete overhaul of the user interface for Steam Deck compatibility.
Players can enjoy the "Edge of Madness" update for free, while the "Crowns of Yore" DLC will be available for purchase.
