Alpha versions of Microsoft's upcoming gaming device, Project Helix, are set to become available to developers in 2027.
During the Game Developers Conference 2026, Microsoft Gaming unveiled new insights into its future gaming system, codenamed Project Helix. A key revelation at the Xbox Developer Summit was that alpha versions of the hardware would begin shipping to game developers in 2027.
Jason Ronald, Vice President of Xbox Next-Gen Devices, reinforced that Project Helix is being engineered as a unified platform, intended to seamlessly support both Xbox and PC versions of games.
Ronald stated that the system will be powered by a custom AMD chip, specifically optimized for the next generation of DirectX and AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) upscaling technology.
