Rain made his debut appearance in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. A descendant of the god Argus, he is notorious for his ruthlessness and willingness to commit any act to achieve his objectives.

His formidable combat abilities include unparalleled control over water, as well as partial manipulation of electricity. In battle, Rain employs water bubbles, summons lightning, delivers powerful roundhouse kicks, teleports, creates water geysers, and significantly amplifies his attacks.

Initially, in the arcade version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Rain was a hidden character, essentially a palette-swapped version of Reptile. However, in the home console versions of UMK3 for Sega Genesis and SNES, he became a fully playable fighter, replacing Shiva alongside Ermac to optimize cartridge space.
