Denuvo to Combat Hypervisor Cracks: Will PC Game Performance Suffer?

July 11, 2026Pablo Navarro1 мин

Denuvo's creators are taking notice of recent widespread piracy activities.

Over recent months, tech enthusiasts have successfully 'cracked' numerous Denuvo-protected PC games. This has been achieved using a hypervisor-based method, effectively bypassing the DRM system.

Despite these cracks often requiring the disabling of security systems, many gamers are taking the risk to play pirated new releases. This trend has not gone unnoticed by Denuvo's developers.

Daniel Buczek, a representative from Irdeto (the company behind Denuvo), recently addressed the hypervisor exploit, stating the company's commitment to fighting this method of Denuvo bypass:

"We are already working on security system updates for games whose protection has been bypassed using a hypervisor."

Buczek did not elaborate on the specific methods for improving Denuvo but affirmed that these new measures "will not affect performance."

Skeptical players, however, express concerns that an upgraded Denuvo could further degrade PC game performance, contrary to the developers' assurances.
