Crimson Desert Modder Restores Cut Food Mechanic, Activates 50 Hidden Skills

Not all ambitious developer ideas always make it into the final version of a game. In the upcoming title Crimson Desert, a dedicated modder has successfully revived a significant piece of cut content, enriching the gameplay experience.

Thanks to the diligent efforts of a modder known as claramercury, players can now explore an expanded and previously inactive food consumption system. This comprehensive system, initially developed by Pearl Abyss, was fully coded into the game files but remained dormant and unused in the official release.

As claramercury revealed:

"Crimson Desert originally features a fully developed food consumption consequence system, created by Pearl Abyss, but never activated in the game itself. I discovered 50 food-related skills, distributed across 15 categories — including food affecting temperature, elemental resistances, combat buffs, and immunity to endgame mechanics."

With this modification, Crimson Desert gains a new layer of survival-game-like depth. Consuming powerful food items can now trigger various consequences, such as poisoning or other debuffs, making every meal a strategic decision. Only "weak" or less potent food will remain entirely safe for consumption.

claramercury has also implemented several preset difficulty settings for this innovative mechanic. For those seeking the ultimate challenge, the "Iron Stomach" preset introduces numerous debuffs, ensuring that every food choice becomes a critical decision with potentially severe repercussions. Alternatively, on the "Adventure" difficulty level, only the most potent food effects will carry a "moderate" risk.

The mod, aptly named "Cut Content Restored Food Risk System," is now publicly available for download on Nexus Mods, inviting players to delve deeper into the world of Crimson Desert with newfound challenges and strategic decision-making.
