A Popular Blogger's Nails Detached From Her Fingers During a Salon Manicure
Joanne Hardcastle, a well-known blogger from Yorkshire, endured severe consequences following a builder gel manicure at a salon.
The influencer shared that late last year, she decided to try "builder gel" for the first time and booked an appointment at a local beauty establishment. After the initial application of the product, Joanne noticed a green spot on one of her nails. The technician reassured her, stating it was normal, and proceeded to apply a second layer of gel. However, according to Hardcastle, she experienced significant discomfort and pain in her nails for several weeks thereafter.
Some time later, Hardcastle returned to the same salon for the gel removal. During the procedure, the technician discovered that, in addition to the existing spot, several new green patches had appeared on Joanne's nails. Even more distressingly, some of her nail plates had completely detached from the nail bed. "I was absolutely horrified when I saw my nails, and I just wanted to get out of the salon as quickly as possible," the blogger recounted. "I was so upset that I constantly felt the need to hide my hands; I didn't want anyone to notice them."
Joanne expressed her outrage that the salon management not only failed to offer an apology for the incident but also charged her the full price for the gel removal procedure. She added that this distressing experience has had a negative impact on her professional collaborations and work with various brands.
