Fortnite V-Bucks Prices Rise: Epic Games Cites Increased Development Costs

The exchange rate for converting real money into V-Bucks, Fortnite’s in-game currency, has shifted unfavorably for players.

Epic Games has announced a significant increase in the prices of V-Bucks. These changes impact all microtransaction bundles, effectively reducing the purchasing power of players within the popular battle royale game.

According to the developers, the cost of supporting and further developing Fortnite has grown considerably. This increase in operational expenses led the company to re-evaluate and adjust the prices of its in-game currency.

Following this update, players will now receive fewer V-Bucks for the same amount of real money:

  • $8.99 will yield 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000 (a 20% reduction in purchasing power)
  • $22.99 will yield 2,400 V-Bucks instead of 2,800 (a 14.3% reduction)
  • $36.99 will yield 4,500 V-Bucks instead of 5,000 (a 10% reduction)
  • $89.99 will yield 12,500 V-Bucks instead of 13,500 (a 7.4% reduction)

Since its launch in 2017, Fortnite has generated over $20 billion in revenue for Epic Games.
