An experienced specialist is ready to offer his expertise to Bethesda to refine their game mechanics.

Recently, Greg Reisdorf, a former director from the Call of Duty series, shared his strong opinion regarding the current state of shooting mechanics in Bethesda’s Fallout franchise.

Reisdorf believes that Fallout’s gunplay is currently “terrible” and urgently needs improvement. He articulated his criticisms, stating:

“Oh my god. The gunplay is so terrible. Whatever you’re doing right now, Todd Howard – stop. There are a ton of problems with the animations. The engine performs poorly, especially in first-person mode. It seems they use the same models for both first and third-person. Their entire Aim Down Sights (ADS) system appears to be implemented as a button press with an abrupt transition, rather than a smooth, dynamic transition into aiming mode.”

Reisdorf suggested that Bethesda’s developers might struggle to focus adequately on weapon design and mechanics because they allocate significant time and resources to creating an “enormously scaled world.” However, he firmly maintains:

“If you’re going to make a shooter, then the guns are your main characters.”

The veteran developer concluded by expressing his readiness to personally assist in enhancing Fallout’s gunplay, should Todd Howard be open to the collaboration.
