The developers have once again introduced significant changes to the game’s rules.
Recently, the Dota 2 community expressed strong dissatisfaction, leading to the game’s rating on Steam dropping to “Mixed.”
Many users adopted the hashtag #MDGA (Make Dota Great Again), criticizing Valve for what they perceived as negligent treatment of the game and releasing superficial updates that failed to bring substantial changes.
Shortly thereafter, Valve promptly responded by rolling out the major 7.41 update for Dota 2.
The patch introduces a series of key changes, affecting map layout, game mechanics, and balance:
- Aspects removed from the game.
- Innate abilities no longer scale with other abilities; they now provide fixed bonuses or scale with hero level.
- First extra catapult spawn time reduced from 35:00 to 30:00.
- Tormentor’s first spawn location changed.
- Tormentor Rifts moved closer to Lotus Ponds.
- Tormentor areas are now one level lower relative to the lane level.
- Lotus Ponds slightly shifted towards offlane towers.
- Fixed a bug where ward models were sometimes replaced with an error model.
- When a hero uses a consumable on an ally or transfers a consumable to an ally within a 1200 radius (e.g., Tango), a corresponding indicator is shown above both heroes.
- Item recipe components are now ordered from most expensive to least expensive for more predictable quick buying (exceptions include boots, Blink Dagger, and a few other items).
- An option has been added to settings allowing players to hold the hero selection button to see their current vision area, accounting for fog of war.
- If a hero’s inventory is full and the neutral item slot is occupied by an innate item (e.g., Witch Doctor’s Gris-Gris), a new neutral item cannot be created; previously, the innate item would be consumed.
