Discord hit with ‘major outage’ affecting voice chat (Update: fixed!)

Update: Discord has announced that voice and video services have largely recovered, allowing users to reconnect to calls. The company is, however, still investigating issues related to its API.

Users attempting to connect to Discord voice servers may have encountered the persistent “awaiting endpoint” message. This was not an isolated incident, as Discord itself confirmed a widespread service disruption.

Fortunately, the communication platform swiftly identified the root cause of the problem and initiated corrective measures. A statement issued at 1:07 pm PDT indicated, “We believe we have identified the issue and are taking action to try and restore voice traffic.”

During the outage, an alternative for voice communication could have been Steam’s integrated chat feature.
