Dave Oshry, the candid head of New Blood Interactive, the publisher behind the acclaimed game Dusk, has not held back his opinions. In a recent interview, he launched a fierce critique against NVIDIA and called for a complete boycott of the company following the contentious announcement of DLSS 5.0.
“We, as game developers and as players, must stop this garbage, just as we did previously with NFTs or cryptocurrency-based games.”
Oshry firmly believes that the widespread implementation of DLSS 5.0 would be “the kiss of death” for the future of video game creation. He urged fellow developers and the gaming community to “vote with their wallets” by actively boycotting NVIDIA’s initiatives related to this new technology.
“We need to protest more actively. The only thing we can do, besides loud criticism, is to vote with our wallets. Destroy their sales, crash their stock price. Stop collaborating with them as developers. And then, perhaps, they will return to giving us what we want.”
Following its initial demonstration, positive feedback for DLSS 5.0 has been virtually non-existent across the internet. Even Digital Foundry, a prominent tech analysis outlet, retracted its initially favorable coverage just two days after publication. The presentation itself is now widely considered a massive PR failure for NVIDIA, exacerbated by the perplexing choice of Resident Evil: Requiem for the demonstration. This game is already celebrated for its stunning visuals and reportedly has no need for such visual “enhancements.”
