Crimson Desert Overcomes Rocky Launch, Achieves Steam Player Record and ‘Very Positive’ Status

The initial launch of Pearl Abyss’s action RPG, Crimson Desert, on Steam was met with a mixed reception from players. Early feedback highlighted concerns regarding the game’s control scheme, the implementation of certain core mechanics, and various creative decisions made by the developers.

However, the team at Pearl Abyss swiftly responded to player feedback by releasing a series of continuous patches. These updates have significantly improved the game’s overall experience. This past weekend, these efforts culminated in Crimson Desert setting a remarkable new record for peak concurrent players on Steam, with over 276,000 users playing simultaneously.

This turnaround has been reflected in the game’s community perception. Crimson Desert now boasts a “Very Positive” review status on Steam, achieving an impressive 81% approval rating from over 95,000 player reviews. Earlier updates, such as version 1.01.00, were instrumental in this improvement, introducing features like faster loading times, additional content, and enhanced crime mechanics.
