Ahead of its release, Crimson Desert was extensively showcased on PC and PlayStation 5, but surprisingly, the Xbox version remained largely undisclosed. This lack of information naturally raised questions and concerns among prospective Xbox Series S owners. Following the game’s launch, players themselves have taken the initiative to shed light on how it performs on Microsoft’s entry-level console.
Comparisons of the game’s graphics, including footage specifically from the junior console, have since made their way online. According to official developer specifications, the Xbox Series S offers two distinct graphical modes:
- Performance Mode: Aims for a frame rate of up to 40 FPS, with a resolution capped at 720p.
- Quality Mode: Targets a stable 30 FPS, rendering at a higher resolution of 1080p.

Based on a video shared by user KloDX9, the console generally manages to maintain its targeted frame rates in both modes. However, a significant trade-off appears to be image clarity, which reportedly suffers, especially during dynamic combat sequences and within dense urban environments. Furthermore, advanced graphical effects prominent in the PC version, such as sophisticated lighting, are notably absent or simplified on the Series S, resulting in a less detailed visual experience.
Similar observations have been echoed by users across platforms like Reddit. One player shared their experience, stating:
“The image in Full HD is a bit blurry, and there are some distortions (I have V-sync enabled, perhaps that’s why), but so far the frame rate is quite stable. I managed to get through the prologue and the first chapter of the game.”
