Crimson Desert: Multiplayer Possible with Graphic Compromises, Pearl Abyss on Future Expansions

Pearl Abyss, the studio behind the highly anticipated game Crimson Desert, is actively exploring the integration of a multiplayer mode. However, this initiative, as revealed in a report by the South Korean publication Yonhap News, would demand considerable technical concessions.

Company representatives indicated that previous attempts to implement multiplayer have been made. Yet, current technical constraints would require developers to sacrifice certain graphical aspects of the game. This compromise is considered essential to ensure stable multiplayer performance across the diverse hardware available to players.

Beyond the discussion of a potential multiplayer addition, Pearl Abyss management also addressed their strategy for future content and paid expansions. The CEO expressed a belief that rather than aggressively focusing on monetization through DLCs, the primary emphasis should be on boosting sales of the base game. He posits that a broader expansion of game content can effectively stimulate ongoing interest in the original release without exclusively relying on paid add-ons.
