Crimson Desert: AI-Generated Art Replaced with Human Creations Following Player Feedback

Pearl Abyss, the developers behind the upcoming game Crimson Desert, have swiftly responded to community feedback after players discovered images within the game that appeared to be generated by artificial intelligence shortly after its initial reveal. Players voiced their dissatisfaction, with some referring to such content as “neuro-slop” due to its inconsistent style.

The studio acknowledged the use of AI technologies, explaining that certain AI-generated assets had mistakenly made their way into what was shown as the game’s final version. Pearl Abyss pledged to remove or replace these elements to maintain artistic integrity.

A recent patch, version 1.01.00, confirmed that the developers have indeed begun to fulfill their promise. Users observed that several controversial AI-generated paintings and visual assets have been replaced with artwork created by human artists. This change is evident when comparing the previous AI-generated images, which often showed distorted or unnatural elements, with the newly implemented human-drawn pieces that better align with the game’s intended artistic style.

These adjustments were briefly described in the patch notes for Crimson Desert 1.01.00:

“As part of ongoing improvements, some 2D visual assets have been replaced with ones more suitable for the game’s artistic style.”

This proactive step by the developers has been warmly received by the gaming community, who see it as a positive development and a sign that player feedback is being valued and acted upon.
