Cosplayer Elena Zadneprovskaya has brought to life an Abyss Watcher from the Dark Souls III universe, one of the formidable Lords of Cinder. She immersed herself in the game’s lore to portray this warrior, dedicated to stemming the tide of corruption within the kingdom of Lothric.
Photographer Andrey Trifonoff captured her stunning portrayal, inviting viewers to once again journey into the somber lands of Lothric – the grim kingdom and primary setting of the action RPG Dark Souls III.
During Trifonoff’s photoshoot, Elena Zadneprovskaya perfectly embodied the intimidating presence of an Abyss Watcher.
The Abyss Watchers are legendary warriors, bound by an oath to eradicate manifestations of the Abyss and serve the soul of the Wolf Blood. Though they ascended to become Lords of Cinder, their original strength and purpose gradually waned over time.
In the game itself, these formidable combatants appear as mere echoes of their former glory. Like other inhabitants of Farron Keep, the Watchers fell victim to the pervasive corruption. The precise reasons for their controversial ascension to the Lords of Cinder’s throne remain ambiguous within the lore.
It is speculated, however, that they undertook this grave duty as a final, desperate act to fulfill their sacred vow, prolong the Age of Fire, and prevent the Abyss from spreading its pervasive darkness throughout the world.
