CD Projekt RED has recently clarified its decision to include The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition in the Xbox Game Pass catalog. This strategic move comes as the studio prepares for the launch of a new Witcher saga, starting with The Witcher 4, and acknowledges that many individuals have yet to experience the acclaimed world of Geralt of Rivia.
During a recent discussion with investors, CDPR co-CEO Michał Nowakowski elaborated on the rationale behind this choice. He stated that adding the game to Game Pass serves as an excellent opportunity to introduce the “new generation of players” to The Witcher 3.
“Including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition in the Xbox Game Pass library is a fantastic chance to bring more players into our universe. Over the 10 years since the game’s release, an entirely new generation of gamers has emerged — many of whom have never personally delved into Geralt’s story,” Nowakowski explained.
Nowakowski believes that Game Pass helps CDPR “bridge this gap and give new players the opportunity to discover why The Witcher 3 became such an important game for so many people.”
Furthermore, this inclusion is designed to reignite and build additional interest in The Witcher universe ahead of the forthcoming new saga, which will encompass The Witcher 4 and subsequent titles. This ensures that a broader audience is engaged and ready for the next chapter in the beloved fantasy series.
