Bungie Commits to Long-Term Marathon Support

Contrary to initial predictions, Marathon’s launch proved more successful than Concord’s, attracting a significant player base on Steam. However, the results might be less impressive for Sony: analysts estimate 1.2 million copies sold, with only 19% of those sales attributed to PlayStation 5.

Despite these figures, Bungie has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the game for many years to come. In a recent PC performance guide, the developers assured fans that their extraction shooter would not be abandoned.

“We are with Marathon for the long haul. We look forward to many years of systematic improvements in every aspect of the game,” stated the developers.

The studio explained that just as they refined the visual aspects following player feedback, Marathon’s PC performance will also gradually improve. While specific details remain undisclosed, Bungie confirmed ongoing work on long-term changes, as well as upcoming patches aimed at optimizing CPU performance.

Over the past week, the game’s peak concurrent players on Steam did not exceed 45,000.
