The Bombora publishing house has announced the cancellation of foreign books, previously intended for release in Russia, that were dedicated to the Cyberpunk 2077 and Dragon Age universes. These included works by authors Mathieu Bouthillier and Jonathan Petitot. The decision stemmed from unagreed terms with the rights holder during the preparation phase. Despite this, Bombora assures that relations remain excellent, and cooperation continues with the publisher on other projects.
In a proactive move following these cancellations, Bombora is taking the initiative to create its own comprehensive book about the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. The project will be helmed by domestic author Denis Belonogov, also known by his alias Comrakoff. Belonogov brings over a decade of experience in industry analysis, extensive lore deep-dives for titles like FromSoftware and Diablo, and an impressive three “Author of the Month” awards from DTF.
Belonogov’s upcoming book promises readers an ultimate exploration of the Cyberpunk genre and its rich universe. It will trace the path from Mike Pondsmith’s original tabletop games to a complete chronicle of CD Projekt RED’s blockbuster creation. The author aims to reveal the behind-the-scenes aspects of development, including changes in game directors, cut content such as wall-running, the game’s controversial initial release, and its triumphant revival with the Phantom Liberty expansion. A significant section will also delve into the mysteries of Night City, corporate wars, the legendary unsolved puzzle of ff:06:b5, and much more.
Furthermore, Bombora is actively seeking a domestic author to undertake the creation of a similar in-depth book focusing on the Dragon Age universe.
