Ex-Blizzard President Criticizes Crimson Desert Devs for AI Art Apology

Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra has expressed bewilderment regarding the apology from Crimson Desert developers for using AI-generated art. After players discovered AI images in the release version, the studio quickly apologized, which drew sharp criticism from Ybarra.

In a social media statement, Mike Ybarra remarked: “What is there to apologize for? AI, in one form or another, will be in every video game. I don’t understand why developers capitulate to a handful of people who are unable to accept reality: AI will be in everything – from video games to your refrigerator (it’s already there). Get a grip.”

When one user hinted that they were glad Ybarra no longer managed Blizzard, he responded: “I hope you enjoy AI Co-pilot in World of Warcraft,” which can be interpreted as a reference to Microsoft’s influence and the inevitable integration of AI technologies into the gaming industry.
