Gameplay Group and PM Studios have officially announced the release date for their highly anticipated title, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. Fans can mark their calendars for July 2, 2026, when the game is set to launch on a variety of platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. It appears a previously planned version for PlayStation 4 has been canceled.
The developers have meticulously designed the game to translate the iconic elemental bending abilities of the Avatar universe into dynamic and engaging combat mechanics. The game will be available in two distinct editions:
- Standard Edition ($29.99): This version includes a starting roster of 12 unique fighters, a compelling story mode, arcade mode, a comprehensive training module, and tutorials to help players master character techniques.
- Deluxe Edition ($49.99): For those seeking additional content, the Deluxe Edition offers a digital soundtrack, a digital artbook, and a Year 1 Pass, which grants access to new heroes scheduled for release post-launch.
At its core, the gameplay delivers a classic 2D one-on-one fighting experience. A standout feature of the project is its stunning visual presentation: each character boasts over 900 hand-drawn animation frames. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that the game faithfully captures the distinct artistic style of the beloved animated series.

For online competitive play, the game will incorporate advanced rollback netcode technology, which is crucial for minimizing latency and ensuring a smooth, responsive experience during internet battles. Furthermore, full cross-play functionality has been confirmed, allowing players to compete against each other seamlessly, regardless of their chosen platform. Following its initial announcement in October and a subsequent closed alpha testing phase, the project is now confidently entering its final stages of development.
