Many fans envision Antony Starr as Albert Wesker.

For years, Resident Evil fans have actively championed “The Boys” star Antony Starr as the perfect candidate to portray the iconic villain Albert Wesker. His portrayal of a cold and charismatic antagonist, coupled with a striking visual resemblance to the character, has fueled this widespread desire.

However, Starr himself views the idea with skepticism. He mentioned that his only shared trait with Wesker was blonde hair, which he has since changed. The actor further emphasized that the role “probably needs someone younger,” highlighting his current age of 50.

“People keep bringing this up… and I think the only thing I have in common is blonde hair which I’ve gotten rid of. I think you’ll probably need someone younger… I’m 50.”

The Future of Resident Evil on Screen

Meanwhile, the Resident Evil franchise is gearing up for another cinematic reboot. Zach Cregger, known for “Barbarian,” has been tapped to direct the project. Cregger openly expresses his love for the game series but emphasizes he won’t strictly adhere to its canon.

The film’s plot will center on a courier trapped in a T-virus-infected Raccoon City hospital. Notably, key game characters like Leon Kennedy or Chris Redfield are not expected to appear. Furthermore, previous script leaks suggested the movie would lean more towards black comedy than traditional horror.

The premiere of this new Resident Evil iteration is scheduled for September 18, 2026.
