Animated Film “Super Mario: Galactic Cinema” Rakes In $122 Million Globally in Two Days

The latest animated film set in the Super Mario universe is successfully dominating cinemas worldwide.

Titled “Super Mario: Galactic Cinema,” the movie debuted with an impressive box office performance, gathering $122.1 million globally within its first two days. Of this substantial total, $59.1 million was generated from the U.S. market, while international territories contributed an additional $63 million.

This sequel is performing almost on par with its predecessor, which ultimately grossed over $1.3 billion globally. It has already established itself as one of the year’s most successful premieres, aligning with analysts’ predictions of approximately $180-200 million for its opening weekend.

Despite its commercial success, critical reception for the film has been somewhat reserved, registering 40% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, audiences, mirroring their response to the first installment, have embraced it much more warmly: its user rating stands at an impressive 90%, a fact clearly reflected in strong cinema attendance and packed auditoriums.

In Russian cinemas, “Super Mario: Galactic Cinema” is scheduled to premiere on April 9th.
